Matcha for merienda (Afternoon snack)

One afternoon, I decided to make fun of my Matcha powder. As my brother and cousin were thinking what to munch on for an afternoon delight, I decided to make a Matcha pancakes.

If you will look back to my recent posts, you will know why I made a lot of recipes using my main ingredient which is Matcha powder.

So what I did with my main ingredient was super delicious alternative to the basic and sometimes kind of boring pancakes. Let's make a twist!

I did a Matcha Pancakes. I got this idea while browsing from my mst love app which is Pinterest.
This recipe was from Diane with a lovely post about her take on creating this yummy treat.

You may enjoy the same recipe using Ms. Diane's recipe as I did.

DIY Starbucks Matcha(Green Tea) Frappuccino

I had this Matcha powder from my good friend who has been in Japan last May. She asked what would I love to have coming from Japan and no doubt I said, Matcha powder.

Before, I used to like green tea for drinking purposes only. But because I have learned to love matcha-flavored desserts, I soon discovered to make my own desserts using this lovely powder.

The very first thing I made out of the powder my friend brought to me as a gift from Japan, was a Starbucks inspired Green Tea Frappuccino.

I do love SB's Frapp. In fact, whenever I order at the store I usually buy the hot or the cold version of the Green tea.

And so, I decided to make my own version and give it a try.

This recipe was inspired by pinkmacprincess of Youtube

So here it is:

Ingredients:
1 tsp matcha powder
2-3 tsp sugar
A dash of vanilla extract
1 cup ice
1 cup of milk (I used skim milk)

For the whipped cream:
1 cup heavy whipping cream
2 tbsp powdered sugar
1 tsp of vanilla extract

How to make:
1. Combine all ingredients at the blender and then blend.

2. For the whipped cream, this is optional. If you have already the whipped cream at your fridge you may skip this part.

3. Put the whipping cream to a chilled bowl and then put a dash of vanilla extract and the powdered sugar. Mix well using a standard mixer. Chill.

Note: We're using chilled bowl as to keep the whipping cream thick and smooth the way we want it.

4. Put your very own green tea mix at any cup and then top it off with our very own whipped cream.

5. Enjoy!

Hope you enjoy this treat.

Crazy for Matcha

I have been loving green tea for quite some time now. But actually, green tea and I didn't go along really well at first.

I started drinking green tea with sugar, then suddenly substitute sugar with honey. And then there's lemon came along.

But my love for green tea does not stop from just drinking it. I actually did love to eat it!

As soon as I first took a bite of a Matcha Japanese cheesecake, my love for green tea started to blossom.

Hopefully on the upcoming post I can share with you how I created new recipes using the lovely matcha powder.

See you on my next blog.

It's actually not that I am busy but more likely because of laziness. =)

But hey, I decided to update this as a great reminder of the places I have eaten to and also share to everyone the recipes I have made with my DIYs.

Hope you'll enjoy.
